This will be a pitch and putt at Play Golf (previously Lexden Wood golf club) and pub meal.

We will be playing on their “Academy” pitch and putt course. This consists of nine holes (each one 60-90 yards long).

Skill and experience is not important but coming along and giving it a go is. For those who don’t play golf this is a great way to try it out without having to take it too seriously.

I propose that we meet there at 6:30pm ready to tee off at 6:45pm. We can finish at around 8:30pm (or when lack of light halts play) before going on to a pub for something to eat and/or a drink where we can catch up on Andy, now AKA “Ralph”, Ross’ induction.

The cost for the golf is just £5 per head which includes the loan of a golf club if required. The bad weather backup will be to use their flood lit driving range instead.

As usual this will be a relaxed, informal evening and we will be running a whip (optional for those driving).

We will start at 7:30pm in the Fat Cat and if the mood takes us we will move on somewhere else, perhaps Roberts…

As this will be Andrew’s special night it would be great if you could come along and help give him an evening to remember.

A tour of the brewery and talk about how the beer is made.

Our own barrel of beer – 72 pints.

A finger buffet (provided by the cafe next door to the brewery).

Us piling round Keith’s afterwards as he lives in Elmstead (just kidding).

The total price will be just per £12 per head based.

Another successful Race Night last night.  Waiting for the final count but in the meantime can I thank everyone who attended and of course special thanks must go to the members of Colchester Round Table and Ladies Circle who organised and ran the event.

Congratulations must go to two of our guests, John Clayton and Daniel Johnson (pictured right), who led the 1 hour endurance race from almost start to finish putting to shame the so called boy racers in table – guys what happened!

Thankfully the current Table Chairman, aka “Hoops”, clawed back some honour by not only taking on the whole 1 hours race by himself after the last minute withdraw of his Vice Dan ‘feelruff’, but by also banging in the fastest lap of the race by a massive half a second (not bad on a 41 second lap), proving for the second successive year that he is still the fastest karter in table!

Hoops might even have won were it not for a dubious manoeuvre by Mr Clayton.  Despite his protests the stewards declared it a racing incident.

Colchester Indikart is sadly no more and so this event will be held at the A12 Karters Entertainment Centre in Witham.

The event will take place on Monday 27th February at 7:30pm. The price is £35 per head.

The eagle-eyed will spot that this is St. Patrick’s night, so expect an Irish theme.

The event is a really good laugh, and a relatively cheap night out. The format is a DVD-based random horse race, on which we will run a tote for those who like a bet. To further add to the fun, we will be selling horses and jockeys on the night to our guests.

The night is in aid of the Colchester Round Table charity account, which is used to provide grants to charities and other good causes in the Borough of Colchester.

On a corporate note we will be looking for sponsorship, both for the whole event and for individual races. The cost is not massive, with sponsorship of the whole event priced at £250.00 and each race £50.00. The main sponsor gets a table of 10 and any literature distributed throughout the room; race sponsors get their name in the programme.
